Check out this photo from the NAMM website ... it is from the Elton John concert they had at the show.

That's way cool. I always thought he was one of the best guitarists - listen to Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding some time!!

Is that guitar on a stand?

Yeah, I think it's on a Gracie stand. There were a couple of other pics when it was behind him, apparently on the stand, as he was playing an electric (Danelectro!) which is slung around his back in this photo.
