Excuse my continued rant about my cracked Legend, but I must say, I've owned a Yahmaha 12 string since 1976 (73 model), and a Fender acoustic I bought new in 1986. I've had these guitars out to the fishhouse in the dead of winter, and in cars with windows rolled up in the heat of summer, and both are no more worse for wear(other than the time I got a little wild with the gas ice auger, and grazed the face of my Fender :eek: ). O.K., not bright moves, but gee whiz nobody's perfect.
Now,my Yahamaha AND my Fender were out in the same area as my Legend, when the cold air/lack of humidity (whichever)caused the cracking.
Of course, neither of the other two sound nearly as good as my Legend, but I guess there's something to be said about durability as well.

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | I guess I am reminded that the most beautiful of flowers are usually ones that bloom the shortest time. I know I probably need not rub salt into the wound, but no guitar should be left out, and the fact that it lasted this long, is a testiment because it probably should not have. The others that lasted this long, in your words, "neither of the other two sound nearly as good as my Legend."
I am however not unfeeling. My Medallion was spotless for at least 20 years, having been played on beaches and bounced around airlines. Then my Viper fell over and landed on the top and applied a big scrape. I was just as devistated over this $150 factory 2nd.
I assume you can send it to Ovation for a refinish that would be a reasonable price, and last another 30 years. |

Location: Scotland | Norse, solid wood guitars, regardless of manufacturer get pissed at environmental extremes. My guess is that both your Yamaha & Fender are made of ply - different animal. |

My other two guitars are definitely NOT in the same class as my Legend (being most likely a plywood face on the Fender). I should also note my Balladeer is no more worse for the wear either. I'm over the shock, back to just enjoying.
