Sorry for the bit of distortion, but I recorded with the laptop's camera and built in mic. I used my Roland acoustic amp for the vocals, it did pretty good. The backing tracks are on the stereo, and I'm playing through the Carvin. Probably not the kinda music y'all listen to (MARK!) but like I said, I was goofin with the UKII, and what better to play on a UKII that some Zakk Wylde! Stick around for the solo though, it's pretty cool. Oh, and I'm trying to sound like Ozzy singin' too. S'pose I should apologize for that right off too. :D Me playing the UKII

I am not the biggest Ozzy fan but he is one cool dude and the grinding guitar is really fun to hear you pull off with an old Ovation! Vocals are better than I expected! Nice job! you have a fun act. When the break hits, I hit the volume pedal to quiet, turn on the delay (Digitech PDS1002) flip to the neck pup (at half volume) do the volume swells and do the first little intro into the solo, then as it builds, I flip to the bridge pup and hit the OD (An old analog one made by Pearl... waiting on the killer OD from StephenT!). End of the solo volume goes back to zero while it echos out. Then all effect off again and back to the Carvin X100B's sound. The rest is pretty "ghetto" to say the least. I'm getting a Ozzy vocal tone singin into my Roland AC60 acoustic amp with the built in chorus and delay going (secret to Ozzy's voice? LOTS OF EFFECTS!) The backing tracks are courtesy of Tim Chapman's post the other day. Thanks Tim! I'm just playing them through my surround system for the TV. Recording was done with quicktime on the mac with the built in camera and mic. ghetto

Now I've got to sell all the acoustics, buy a Viper or a UK, a bunch of effects, amps...... Oh, I forgot, AND LEARN HOW TO PLAY. Great job!

Knowing how to hook up all the electronics and making it all come together on the fly is the other half. Looks and sounds like you got it all down.

It's funny, with all the hype about Rhoads, and for a long time now the presence of Wylde, I kinda miss the dark horse of the Ozzy stable: Jake E. Lee. You have some of his mojo.... He is fantastic and does it all sans whammy!

Joined: December 2006 Posts: 6992 Location: Jet City Jack, I'm tellin' ya, you need one! I've gone through lots of electric guitars in the past 25 years, and I've never come across another guitar that can compare to the tone of a UKII, especially if you're playing a harder rock/metal style. | It'll eat a Les Paul for dinner, then a super strat or 2 for dessert. Alex, I can play Rush all day long, but singing Geddy's parts are pretty tough. There may be one or 2 I could butcher though. I'm close to getting "Something for Nothing" down. Maybe Red Barchetta. We'll see, Geddy's a toughy. | | Gallerinski |
Joined: | May 2008 Posts: 4996 Location: Phoenix AZ There seems to be such rave reviews of the UKII and I don't doubt it one bit. | So why do you think this guitar (or any ovation solidbody for that matter) never really caught on in the market? Dave
