Pop artist (Sam Hui) circa late '70s, this picture appeared in a current magazine ad.:-

I remember seeing this Adamas I on a couple of his album covers back in the '70s and '80s. It was also seen frequently on TV whenever he appeared. He's the number one singer song writer at the time, accredited as the one who put Chinese words back in pop music (as opposed to English). He's also seen with a '76 Patriot and a few Gibson Hummingbirds/Doves.

Rock band (disbanded, sort of, when lead singer died ten years ago), picture appeared in the same magazine as above:-

One of the more famous rock band (mostly electric), but this member has been seen with the same guitar in recent years in all the concerts and photo shoots. They do have quite a following with the younger generation.

*****
Tom Lee, the only major music store (they carry EVERYTHING), has more USA Ovations and Adamas (I'd say over 50) in their acoustic guitar section than I have seen anywhere here in S. Cal. including the big GC in Hollywood.
*****
My point being, artist endorsement, formal or not, do make a huge difference.

To clarify, the first picture is missing from the original post due to a typo, so the first picture you see belongs to the second caption.

Sorry about the confusion.

First pic could be an SMT, there were a bunch made with "Ovation" rather than "Adamas" on the headstock. Lack of fingerboard inlays plus centre laminate on the neck is ebony rather than maple, would suggest an SMT rather than an Elite. Jesus, it's nearly 5am, this is either road fever or I need therapy, or maybe it's just Scotland. HELP!!!!!
