I'm astounded that this didn't sell and generated such low bidding.

Paul, Al's right, as owners of similar guitars we both know how good these early Ovations are, but we're part of the enlightened few. To the vast majority it's just an old Ovation, and not worth having because it doesn't have electronics. Until the vintage dealers start latching on & hyping them they'll remain bargains. A Gibson J45/50 or Martin D18/21 of similar vintage and condition would fetch $2-3K+. This especially rare & early Balladeer should be in the same range. Right now Ovations are the red-headed step children of the vintage guitar market.

Paul T is right moody
all of us here are in the know and I have to admit that few of us are willing to pay the price for a fine old ovation. Many of the cool collector's pieces go overseas where there is more of a demand and respect. I sell many guitars to whomever wants to buy them.
Over and over i read on this board about what something is worth or how much to pay etc. the bottom line is if the guitar was a givsung or floudner you would not have to do that because it would be gone. Hell if it was a martian or a tailor it would be gone.
The point I am making is that until common folks and not just collectors view vintage ovations as being worth decent prices then there will forever be bargains out there. In the mean time I will buy every Adamas I can find.
