Looking for a Beach guitar. I didn't want to spend much and I didn't want to put something "nice" I have... In harm's way.
My Bride said just pick one guitar you have and call it Beach, or did she say bitch? I can't remember...
Well, I kept looking.
What was found was a 1983 (good yr for some "O's")
1567 Legend Shallow body cut-away.
No keys, big "finish" crack, no electronics, no pick-up on the bridge. The seller (ebay) said the neck was in good shape and it didn't have any loose supports inside... I bought it.
I had some gold "O" keys and a soft bag to take it to the Mother Ship.
Both John and Kim met me at the door wearing lab coats and those lights that surgons wear around the forehead prior to surgery.
I didn't want to hear neck re-set... That would have been fatal. After the brief inspection I was told to leave it and go home to pray. (OK they didn't say pray... They just said go home.)
My last request was for MOJO to be put back in her. "We'll do our best." As the door slammed.
A few weeks passed and I got the call...
"IT'S ALIVE" (Scream like Gene Wilder in Young Frankenstein)
The ugly "finish" crack was made stable and a thin coat of varnish filled in some dings and helped gloss the head-stock chip. The neck is clean and the action is just how you want it. Yes, they added the mojo for free! 1567 listed for only one yr. 1983 for $895.
This is another Mother Ship success story.
It might only hit 52 degrees with sun... But Thursday we are going to the beach. This thin body cut-away with no guts is super light. I found a keeper for as long as we both shall live.
Woz
PS: I'd like to thank Dr's John / Kim and the rest of the "O" surgical team. |
