But the instructions said to use a piece of wood about 3 feet long, so I figured bigger is better and added an inch or two. If I try to tune it to open G it pops strings. So I guess I'll play it in open F... open F? I do like the way my F holes came out though. It's a super shallow. I outta add a pickup... and strap buttons as it's impossible to hold and play... Stephen may be right. But hey - the F holes! | ||

Joined: May 2008 Posts: 4996 Location: Phoenix AZ | There's a write up somewhere about one of his CBGs. Completely home made with two broom handles hose-clamped together for a neck. One broom handle has a single bass string on it and the other a single regular electric string. The pickups are hand made by winding copper onto wooden thread spools. The movable nut is actually a Sharpie pen and he glued some solidbody "horns" onto the ceegar box so it would sit right on his knee. And he just wails on the damn thing! Al and I saw him play a 90 minute set at Amelia and he was pounding shots between every song, sometimes while still keeping up the beat on the foot drum set. Just freaking amazing. That CBG in the 2nd video is actually a danelectro neck fixed to a CB. Wild stuff. Dave | ||
