I already take up half the closet for just my bass guitars, not to mention my ampeg full stack in the bedroom and of course my ovation on the stand.I'm pretty much pushing it now.Though she's great and hasn't said anything yet.So.... Just one more! Maybe i could put this one in the bathroom,Instead of the newspaper.Yea right!

Location: Fort Worth, Texas | Well, folks I'm bidding on it. My first venture into bidding for musical instruments on ebay....
Don't really want to overbid against any OFC members, I'd love to add this to my small collection (and put it to use with the band), but could live without it. The only other info I found with a Google search for "Viper EAB68" was one for sale from Elderly Instruments for $975.00.
What I'm thinking is to watch it and maybe do the "Buy it Now" thing when it's closer to the end of the auction. My wife and pocketbook would really appreciate getting it for less than that.....
Time to sell my Montana student bass (broken and repaired) and the good-ol Celebrity to clear some room.
I was never a bass player until we started up this band I'm in, already went from 6 members to four, so the bass playing is passed around three of us (it's an Ibanez bass)- turns out I play the bass most of the time now!!!

Location: Scotland | You're too late buddy, the reserve's been met. The high bidder is "roundback" who buys & sells a lot of Ovations on Ebay. He's the guy I got our my bass players Viper from. He'll have it back up on ebay shortly with a higher reserve & higher BIN. |

Location: San Bernardino, California | The body on the Viper I had was made out of three pieces of solid wood and then carved out inside except for an island under the bridge. The back of the body chamber was fairly thick (approx. 1/2 inch). I suspect that the Vipers are almost indestructible. |

Ovation basses - I can't fine anything about the Viper bass on the official web site - as I noted before one can be had (for a lot more) from Elderly Music, anyway I didn't know the EAB68 existed until seeing this thread.
Oh, and I did do an OFC search for bass info!
Any info would be appreciated.
I do find plenty of the B778 models for sale out there - for a lot more. Never had the opportunity to see or play one of those either.

| According to Ovation literature, the EAB68 was introduced in 1995, with a retail price of $2,199.00, as opposed to $1,899.00 for the Viper six string. These prices; however, did not include the case.
This bass was offered through the 1998 catalog, albeit by 1999 it had been deleted as a standard model. It was available in Cherry Cherryburst, Natural and Black finishes. |
