This appears to be a unique instrument. Can any of our experts give me any guidance (yes, expert as in a complement)? What is the seller referring to when he says "Has an out of phase switch"? If the price is reasonable, I will win. However, it will be more for occassional play/collection - if I am bidding against an OFC member that will play it as a primary, let me know. I will back off. Sounds strange? Done it before, as I won't let a good deal go by but would prefer that it was used as a "player" v. collection hanging on the wall.

"What is the seller referring to when he says "Has an out of phase switch"?" He is referring to the fact that he knows little about the guitar. :) Actually I believe that is a "notch filter" and I shouldn't be so harch 'cause I'm not positive about it either. I know the one switch is the pickup selector, but I just use it and the other switch indiscriminately until I get a sound I like. These are some of the best electric 12-strings ever made. I'm not terribly fond of the pickups, but think they work better on the 12 than on the 6-string model. THey are just very easy to play, not terribly heavy, and sound great.

Ovation shows E+5 as 1975-1980 (guitar is E15168). Assume seller off in yr?? You have a great looking "052" as Preacher 12 w/chrome tuners, the 6-string "023" as Deluxe w/gold tuners. Ovation shows a 1285 Deluxe 12 with chrome and no listing of the non-deluxe Preacher 12. Is this one and the same? In other words, is the item for sale the Deluxe? Ebony and magogany - nice combination. By the way, my wife liked the comment you made on the site about your wife, arriving home w/eleven guitars delived by UPS.

They tend to go for more on the ebay market than where the bidding currently is, but they are very reasonable for the guitar you get. Do a search thru the archives on this website and you'll find a lot of good info. I bought mine last October and have been very happy with it.

The Preacher 12 on my site #052 has pearl tuners. I have it listed as having chrome hardware, and it looks like the pickups are chrome, but the bridge is certainly gold/brass. I'll have to take it out to see if the pickups are chrome, or just teh gold faded off, or just a bad picture.

Unfortunately, I don't have the wherewithal to bid this beauty into the straosphere, so I will desist. But as the electrified drunk heads for the bar when exposed to a fifth of Jack Daniels, I will roam the ebay in search of the white 12 string known as Moby Pick as I stumble along on my one legged obsession. (My leg is tangled up in the phone cords). Bailey

If you position the pickup selector to the back (which on most guitars would be the bridge pickup position) you will have both pickups on and OOP. There is a trim pot on the circuit board, accessed by removing the backplate, that allows you to regulate the amount of effect. There is also another trim pot in there that, if I remember correctly, adjusts the maximum neck pup output. The middle position on the selector is the bridge pup alone. The forward position is the only one that is as it seems...the neck pickup alone. I think all of the active electronic equipped Ovation electrics are set up this way. I have some literature that came with my Bluebird 12-string that illiterates all of this...which reminds me, I still owe Moody PI a copy of this... I too, think these pickups work great for the 12-string models, with a big, jangly clean sound. Wayne

I know that the abalone on the neck was part of the Deluxe package( the standard was dots) not sure if there were any other differences from the standard model... good luck, will keep my fingers crossed for you. Looking at Miles' great collection, other posted pictures, and the excellent discussion on OFC, I have been educated and converted. Hopefully, I get it for a good price. However, unless it goes into the stratosphere - it will reside in San Diego!
