Location: Lafayette, Louisiana | I have this Ovation here that I want to lower the action a little. I pulled the pickup up, and it had three shims under it. When I took all the shims out, I can see the spruce top of the guitar at the bottom of the bridge, looking down into it. This is the first Ovation I have seen this way. Looks like the bottom of the bridge is not there, and the shims were sitting on the spruce top of the guitar. Has anyone else seen this? The guy told me he is the original owner of the guitar, and no modifications were done to it at all. I removed two shims before putting the pickup back in the bridge. The action is fine, but it looks like the pickup is sitting pretty low in the bridge. Can anyone tell me if the bridge was made that way to get the neck angle correct? Like I said I have never seen an Ovation with no bottom to its bridge. Any factory guys can help me with this? The guitar is an Elite. Thank you. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | The bridge wasn't made that way but maybe the neck angle is a little low so that when the saddle slot was routed it went down to the top. Not a big deal so long as there is enuf top to hold the pickup. |
