Location: Ottawa, canada | Hey guys, interesting site. I read the FAQ, cracked the 'code' but I still don't know exactly what kind of ovation I have. I picked it up second-hand everal years ago and it still had the origional instruction booklet and receipt in the case ($600 CDN in Feb 1981) . All research points to a 'pacemaker' but it has no electronics.
The model number looks good, the -4 indicating a natural wood finish which it is, I just don't see a pic of exactly what it is on the ovation site.
Does anyone know if they made Pacemakers without built-in pre-amps? I can post a pic later.
Cheers! |

Location: Ottawa, canada | Thanks! I've been to that particular page on the Ovation site but the photo throws me off. I can see the pre-amp controls, although the tuning pegs and other elements look exactly the same. I'll post that photo tonight. Perhaps they are using the same pacemaker photo for both models and that one just happened to have the electronics.
In fact, upon closer inspection the specs mention 'pickup:none' so it must just be the wrong photo.
I guess, if it does say 1115-4 as the model number, then a pacemaker it must be..
Thanks a ton! |

Is yours a 12 string?(stupid question, I just read your title) That is a beautiful guitar pictured on the Ovation site. I am biding my time until I can afford a 12 string and was not aware of the Pacemaker, It looks like something I may want too look for when my ship arrives. I have always thought that Ovation is the king of 12 strings.

I am narrowing down the choice of the 12 string I might buy. That Pacemaker looks mighty good.

JEFF LYNNE!
Man, I love the 12 string sound on those old ELO records--and they're all made by a sunburst Pacemaker. I'd grab it, if I were you.... |
