Similar to '97 collectors edition but without the touch-sensitive preamp & with a 14 fret neck/solid headstock rather than a 12 fret/slothead

Paul (or anyone else)

What is it, then if it is not a 1997 Collectors? Is it a custom build?

I've seen several 1997 collectors and managed to play one a couple of months back. Cool guitar, I could even be interested in this one.

TIA for any information

Ovation listed these in their 1998 catalog at the Parlor guitar, model number 5741-9. It was a specialty aoustic, on the same page as the folklore, mando, mandocello, and longneck. I've never actually seen one, and they were never listed in any other catalog.

that looks way more useable than the touch sensitive one.

Other than the '97 collector's edition this is the first centre-hole parlour size Ovation I've seen. I have a '99 catalog which has a similar guitar in the Elite style, model no PPG8-X. This had the touch-sensitive pre. There was a Celebrity version of the multi-hole parlour on ebay recently.

I have always liked the look of the 1997 collectors. I think on a parlor the sloted head and shorter neck look more natural. Also the ebony tuning buttons are a nice touch.
