Hello All,
I was looking inside the sound hole of my new 1769-AD5 and noticed there is a unused connection labeled OUT on the pre-amp. Can this be used for anything? Does Ovation use it for anything on other models? It looks like a mini plug can be used in it. I'm just curious about it. I certainly can't see myself drilling holes in the body trying to experiment with it.
Just thought I'd ask. :D

Just a guess. They probably use the same preamp casing for the Hex-Fx stereo preamp, where the stings can be split in various configurations across 2 outputs. It's probably the unused other output.

I was wondering if I could put a multimeter across it to see if it's hot or not. I'm no electronics guru and I don't want to short anything out by accident. Do I need a cable plugged into the 1/4" jack to test it?
Yeah, I know, I can't leave well enough alone.

You'll need to be careful with that unused connection labled OUT. If you plug something into it all the sound will drain from the guitar and it will have to go back to the factory to be recharged. This procedure can take up to 6 weeks, probably longer this time of year.
