Past names...Viper, Hurricane, Typhoon, etc.

Maybe Ovation should come out with the Terminator...indestructible non-wood top, sides, back, and neck, shoulder harness sling, many knobs and toggle switches...mute, camouflage finish and case.

Simple marketing sloga in California market... "I'm back"

I know, repaint "my other board"

Wrong holes. It should be a multi hole with the holes painted to look like bullet holes. Hell I might buy one of those. I see a problem though. A guitar like that would probably be illegal with California's idiotic gun laws.

Don't even get me started on Gun laws.. I live in Maryland. I can buy a rocket launcher and ammo at a gun show, but can't have a personal firearm without signing my life away. Ok maybe a slight exaggeration, but only slight.

I was going to run for governor, but they wouldn't let me run as "none of the above".

Miles, over here no member of the public is allowed to own a firearm, (except those with non-rifled barrels) Olympic standard marksmen have to practice in Europe to avoid arrest. Interestingly since the government banned firearms, gun crime has increased significantly.

It's a cliche, but when a government bans guns, only the bad guys have them. For some strange reason, gun laws don't seem to apply to the bad guys who are breaking laws anyway. Worldwide, where ever guns have been taken out of the hands of law abiding citizens, violent crime has increased. In the U.S., in those states where it has been made easier for people to own and carry handguns, violent crime has gone done. Go figure.

Paul, that may be the other extreme. I was not suggesting for one minute that the UK should have the same attitude as you guys to guns. It just seems unfair that collectors & sportsmen, who were legitimate licensed owners, became scapegoats to a typical government knee-jerk reaction, while criminals go on killing people.

Bill Hick's remark about US gun laws amused me.
"In the US we put a health warning on low-alcohol beer, but will sell a semi-automatic weapon to anyone with a driver's license"

Paul:

Regarding gun ownership and gun laws, everybody who's law abiding and responsible gets screwed. And the bad guys just laugh. If you've spent a lifetime breaking laws, one more isn't going to matter. And if you know that the good guys can't defend themselves, then hey, it's party time.

I don't know who Bill Hicks is but he is full of shit.
For one thing you don't need a drivers license to buy any kid of gun you want in the US, especially in places like NY, NJ or Detroit where they're completely illegal. Any asshole with the enough bucks or the right bag of dope can buy anything they want. The rest of us have to at least have background checks & dumb ass waiting periods for handguns. Although here in Oregon there's no waiting period if you have an "early issue" concealed weapon license (which I do). They may have changed that now, according to rumors. I haven't bought a gun in a few years, but the last time I did I didn't have to wait, I got my concealed carry permit as soon as the "right to carry" law finally passed. Hells bells, before you can get a concealed carry permit you have to go through all sorts of background checks, finger prints, training courses & general bullshit, why the hell do they want to check again?

As far as warnings- take a look at a newer model Ruger .22 pistol. Oh yeah, you can't in the UK because the hand wringing idiot coward voters have taken them away from you, sorry. OK, so if you *could* look at a newer Ruger, there are so many damned warnings engraved on the barrel that if you get tired of shooting it you can read the SOB for twenty minutes.
These friggin' gun laws are nothing but binkys for morons & poltroons.

It's not just gun laws, which I agree for the most part are a joke, but there are some other laws that really only affect the law-abiding. Take your drivers license for instance. In several states, the maximum fine for driving without a license is... you guessed it... be banned from getting a drivers license. I believe Washington state is one of these places.

My feeling on concealed carry (not that I would do that) is simple. A long time ago, a good'ol local constable that was instrumental in getting me bonded gave me one instruction. "Don't take it out unless you plan on using it." ( assumed he was referring to the firearm) So with that in mind, I feel... If it's seen by anyone, it's not concealed. If it's seen by someone, then it probably just saved the person's life who just "unconcealed" it, and whatever law may have been broken in doing so was worth it.

In other words, when the choice is breaking the law, or protecting myself, loved ones and property.... there really is no choice.

I wonder why more folks don't see the correlation of "more gun control laws = higher crime" It's becoming a very indisputable fact from state to state, without exception.

As for the UK, and other parts of Europe and even Asia for that matter... crime is frankly different but unfortunately changing too. Sure a city is a city, but I don't think crime has reached the rural area's as much as it has here in the states. There are exceptions of course, but I just don't seem to hear as much about "random" violence from across the puddles. Violent crimes seem to have a reason, even if misguided, whereas in places like DC... it's just a right of passage, or something to do on a Friday night.

I don't own or carry, but as I read what has happened to some people, e.g. the wife of a DC official kidnapped from her home, I am tempted to join the "packers" under our NM concealed carry law. As you get older there are some who think you are rich and a pushover, maybe a concealed magnum would change their mind.

Wow Dale!

That's one incredible experience! I'm sorry that your family had to go through that horror, as I'm sure the effects are continually so stressing. It's one thing to be the vicitm of a crime, and another to have it also violate the safety and comfort of your own home. I can't even begin to imagine.

I wish you and your family much peace and many blessings.

Be well.

Dale,
I'm glad all worked out for you. Nice choice in sidearm too, SIG my choice also. This story does help to corroborate what I was inferring earlier of rural crime that I just don't hear happening elsewhere. Although I'm sure it exists on some level, it just doesn't seem to be as common elsewhere as it is everyday here.
Growing up I worked for a local catering service. I grew up in a village that was in a township that only had a population (and still does) of about 8000 people. The caterer used to leave his big walk-in freezer unlocked. Occastionally food would disappear, but his thought was that if someone was stealing food, they were hungry. Fast forward to about 18 years later..... the Freezer was broken into (mind you it was unlocked) and vandalized, nothing taken.
I guess what scares me the most in this day is the fact that I could be gunned down in broad daylight because some kid needs adjust the sights on his new toy, and for no other reason.

Some times, reality hurts! One wise person said, "The difference between a free man and a slave, is the possession of arms".... I firmly agree with this statement...

I thank you guys for your best wishes... My family survived the incident with a very positive attitude. In fact, We had another child to celebrate our survival... Hehe...

The incident did halt my guitar playing for a while, but I'm back into it again... Like my choice in fire arms, I think my choice in Guitars is equally as good, Ovation!

Like the Boy Scout motto "Be Prepared", probably helped to save my family's lives, "Plug it in" has helped my peace of mind...

Funny though, after the shooting, my daughter said to the Sheriff, "it was a good thing he did not shoot Dad's guitar, because that would have made Daddy REALLY mad"...(it was right next to her in it's stand)
Bless her heart!...

It's great to be alive! And Thank GOD, we had (have)the "right" and ability to protect our selves...

One more thing, I think it's not very wise to advertise the fact that you are unarmed, even if you "hate" firearms... You become an easy target!

Best of regards,
Dale
