| Hi all, I'm new to the Ovation world and am excited to be here. My question is what is the difference between a 1617 and a 1617-4? What does the dash numbers mean? I've seen some 1617 Legends with a neck adjustment plate (on the head) and some without. Is this a problem?
Thanks |

Location: Scotland | the 5th digit is the finish code 4=natural, 1=sunburst etc. Guitars produced pre '79/80-ish had the neck-rod adjustment at the headstock end and have a cover plate. After that they changed to the K-bar with access via the soundhole. Both designs work fine, the K-bar reduces the chances of a peghead break but I think the older design looks better. |
