VERY GOOD! And Mom also taught you how to use an Etch-A-Sketch. Hey Mike, is that a watch or an electronic survalence braclet that you wear while you're on house arrest? Just goes to show you what people will do to get their hands on a Folklore Deluxe - impersonate ME! Thanks for the good laugh. Dave

I carved my name in the lower bout with my barlow....looks good don't it?
. . . .

I wonder if the Glen Campbell reissue has Glen's name anywhere on the guitar? (label maybe?)If not it would just be a Legend, right?

That pic was wonderful.

You're right to a degree Mike. The difference between this GC and a Legend is the bracing pattern. The GC has the VT-8 bracing pattern. Good for nostalgia, but not that great a sound.

In the last few years of production the GC changed to the A-brace.

There are those that would "balk" at $1400, but compare it to any other USA-made a/e that SOUNDS GOOD, and it's really a good deal.

AG Magazine periodically runs "Great Acoustics for Under $1500" reviews, and if one of these were thrown into the mix it SHOULD get a rave review!

I checked and this run of GC had the VT-8 bracing pattern.

What bracing does my 1975 year model Custom Balladeer have? It sounds incredible. Tons of bass.

Near as I can tell, either "X" or "modified "X", as Ovation called it. Pretty close to the original pattern Ovation used.

I just checked the bracing pattern in my '78 Glen Campbell 1627 (VT-8 of course) but I looked in an mid '70's catalog and noticed that the 1117 & 1617 Legends had VT-11 bracing! Doing a search on "bracing" I found the topic: Brace Yourselves - posted Sept.29,'03 where Paul T. posted pics of the different bracing patterns and the VT-8 & VT-11 look identical!! Anyone know what the difference would be? (if any)

This "new" model is hopefully a sign of things to come.

It's looks scream classic Ovation.

I really hope they continue with reissuing other important models.

Mike, they are basically the same pattern, but as far as I can tell (if the drawings are accurate) the differnces between the VT-8 & 11 are that the "V" comes to a point on the VT-8 but is open on the VT-11. Aso the 2 braces which form the "V" are set at different angles, so the VT-8 is wider at the open end than the VT-11 which means that the longitudinal braces on the 11 are shorter. It would appear the VT-8 was intended for shallow-bowl guitars an the VT-11 for Deep-bowl, though it only appeared on the Legend which changed to the A-brace in the late 70's

Thanks Paul,
I noticed that the V didn't come together on the VT-11 also but didn't think that it would make that much difference. I guess maybe with the V closer that it "tightened up" the top on the treble side making it a little "brighter" for Glen's lead runs! That combined with the "Artist" bowl (5 1/8 vs 5 13/16 deep) causing the lost of bass response as Paul M. mentioned.
. . . .
Anyone have a GC model w/VT-8 AND a Legend w/VT-11 bracing to do a comparison???
. . . .
