I bought an Ovation Elite 12 string when I worked at Veneman Music in Rockville MD around 1985 or 6. It's black, gold tuning machines, the usual multi-hued wood inlays reminescent of a parrot, usual pre-amp with graphic eq, deep bowl, non-cutaway.

I'm trying to figure out what it is, since I'm giving thought to selling it, since I'm a drummer, not a guitarist, and for sofa guitar purposes, a six string cheap whatever would be a better bet for me.

The mystery is that it's both deep bowl and non-cutaway and a 12, a combination I can't seem to find evidence of. Or is a regular 1858 or whatever?

Unravel the mystery for me. I can post pics if it will be of help. Thanks!

I don't know much about it, but I have an 1858 & it's a super shallow cutaway.

A bit more snooping has revealed it to be a 1758.
There's a pic on the Ovation website in the discontinued section. Evidently it had every available bell and whistle. It's a wonderful sounding guitar, and way powerful. I found a bunch of them changing hands in Germany, where they appeared to sell for as high a 2000 euros. I think the last I saw one hanging in a music store it was marked at like $1500, and that was years ago. The big "if" is finding someone who covets the thing...

I could be wrong but you may want to post to Sell/Trade rather than the Bulletin Board. Either way, send the pics so the membership can further help you.
