I was wondering how the Adamas tops got their various colours (I'm refering to the old style textured tops).

Is it sprayed on, is it manufactured like that ?

Also how is the "reverse sunbursting" done ?

BTW, I can hardly believe Alpep's comment that knowone in the is interested in the original style tops.

They're the "real" Adamas's as far as I'm concerned.

the guitar finish is sprayed on.

A reverse sunburst has the solid color in the center and the ligher shades on the edge. It is just a technique of spraying the finish.

Believe it most of my inquiries about those guitars come from overseas.

Is this new Slot Head considered a textured top? If so, there may be renewed interest.

nothing can be "considered" a textured top it either is or it isn't.

that guitar is if we see it in production or not depends on the people at the factory.

you're right, those are the real Adamii.
they were red, bleu, beige, black and brown.
The smoo tops they have recently made are nice guitars but not in the same class as the first. (like the M-B S class vs the E class)
There is hope, they might bring back an S class or creat the equilivent going forward. Wouldn't that be nice.

I noticed in an older catalogue that they showed seperate Adamas & Adamas 2 colour chips.

For example, did they really shade an Adamas Beige differently to the Adamas 2 or have different reds for each range etc...

Yep, according to the early '80's Adamas catalog the shades of the same colors for the 1's and 2's were slightly different, except for the Spinal Tap version (Black - None more black)

The Computer Generated Paul T is correct again. It is possible that the 2 didn't have the sparkle either.
