What is this Slot Head Adamas? "strictly acoustic"..."as tone explodes out of the Slot Head's 22 sound holes"..."strumming an open E chord yields such a deep bodied tone, it's as if a bass-boost button were activated." "... it's deep bowl body,"quintad"-style spruce bracing, and uncommon sound holes project tones with impressive volume and girth."

Looks like the D-45 beater is an Adamas instead of a collectable. Come clean, you that have played this thing, IS THAT DESCRIPTION CORRECT?

We saw one at the Factory in March. It was killer, I have a pic somewhere, I'll try to post it later.

I've just posted the pic I have in my gallery, I couldn't figure out a way to post it in this message. Apologies that the pic's a little blurry, it kinda looks like it has 12-strings at the bridge. It's not easy keeping a camera steady while jacking-off.

Paul T, does this guitar have a truss rod cover? If it does, will Ovation move away from the K-bar necks?

Yes it has a standard neck rod. 12-fret neck guitars have never used the K-bar so we'll have to wait and see. Personally I'll be perfectly happy if the go back to a standard neck-rod

I played this guitar at the factory and it was awesome. Basically an Adamas textured topped Folklore Deluxe. I played it next to the original Adamas Slothead that was also in the engineering department. I won't piss off members of this board by saying which one I thought sounded better. I liked it so much that I have recently gutted my Adamas of its electronics and sent it back to the factory to have the old neck hacked off and replaced with a slothead neck. No kidding! It's an expensive modification, but after hearing the new slothead for myself, nothing else will do. Dave

I like the old truss rod necks also. I find them thinner, and they feel great. My 1975 Custom Balladeer has a very thin neck that is great. I was glad to see they went back to this style neck on the 2002 collectors. Nice and thin!

Thanks Michael for getting the pic up. The credit for the photo goes to Dave Witko. This may be the guitar that convinces me to buy a new Ovation. I'm looking forward to playing it.

This guitar in a reverse blue burst, maybe a bound neck. Give me a woodie just thinking about it.

Very sweet guitar, but why, if I may ask, straight acoustic?

Al makes a very valid point. The 12-fret slothead design does make a difference to the sound of a guitar (I custom-ordered a 12-fret slothead guitar) but it's VERY subtle. To many players a 14-fret body joint is more practical. Personally I would only consider owning the new slothead if they did a 12-fret cutaway version.

I just read the review in Guitar World and it gushed over this guitar. I'll look forward to playing one at NAMM or the OFC gathering next March. Sure as hell won't see in the the Guitar Center. Or if they have one, they'll put it high on the wall where nobody can play it and then complain that it won't sell.

I gotta go get some dinner. I'm feeling grouchy.

My three 12's have 14 fret...two CL's and a Takamine; would never buy a 12 or 6-string that was a 12 fret without a cutaway; for me, a 14 fret non-cutaway is preferred.

I always thought a deep bowl was the only way to go but I have a lot of respect for the mid-bowl #6759 CL 12-string - a wonderful projection whether plugged or unplugged. (Only screw-up was not to continue the carved bridge) I had an Ovation CL 12-string that was acoustic, non-electric and always wished I had internal electronics - it sucks to have to use an inferior sound-hole pickup.

The guys at Ovation did a great job on the deep bowl 1659 CL 12-string, and my two deep bowl CL 1619 6-strings.

Some like the looks of a slot-head and but I have never felt there was any appreciable difference...when I went out to find an older CL 12-string, I didn't care if it was a 1658 or a 1659. Wouldn't have paid more for the slot-head 1658.

They have done even a better job on the 6759 mid-bowl 12-string - whether unplugged or with the upgraded electronics. No longer would I have any hesitation in buying a newer mid-bowl.

As someone who owns a Martin D-25K2, a Takamine 12, has owned a Martin D-18-12 (and tried many others,) I will never buy a non Ovation unless for appreciation/resell. It has taken me years to get used to the Adamas but now I am a convert and may consider one in the next few months.

I repeat - this new Adamas Slothead sounded soooo good that I gutted my non slothead old Adamas of it's electronics and sent it to the factory to hack off the neck and replace it with a slothead neck. Think about that and ask yourself - how f**king good must this guitar sound to cause a rational person to do such a thing? Dave

We are all out of out freaking minds to admit we own and love these guitars we are absolutly insane, crazy, we are.......What? Oh, I have to go it's time to take my medication!

I,ve played this thing and let me tell you first hand this guitar kicks butt !!! Moving the bridge position back to compinsate for the 12th frett attachment gives this thing the punch that the Ovation shound was founded on,Depth,Ballance and fill a hall Volume !!! Hope this is a big seller for us :)
