After mentioning to my GF that I must be crazy considering buying another guitar, her reply was "What are you waiting for, till your too old and got arthritis and can't play any more?" (Boy I love her) I'm glad I listened to her. This 6758 Elite LX is a really nice sounding guitar. Gotta get used to the wider neck and put some new strings on it. (string suggestions welcome) And it's in really nice shape for what I thought was a reasonable price. The electrics were upgraded to the OP40. Well, gotta go play it awhile and strengthen this left hand. P.S. Is there anything you can take for this GAS ?

I've lowered the action by pulling all but one shim. I string it with light guagers. That's where the fun begins. If I want brassy sounds, I use D'Addarios. If I want mellow tones, I use Elixir Polywebs. If I want something really cool, but different, I use Silk and Steels (D'Ads again). Congrats on a beauty instrument!

If the strings were dead when you got it (most likely), ANY new strings will bring a dramatic sound improvement. Ovation 12's have always been my main guitar. Though I REALLY like Elixer lights, I won't pay $27 for a set of strings. I've been using Earthwood lights for about a year. They're inexpensive and sound as good as any other non-coated strings (to my ears). It's a very valid point to not wait...I have increasing trouble with arthritis in my left thumb and it's getting more and more difficult to use the 12. I keep my 6 string on the platform and switch to it after 2 or 3 songs because my hand hurts so much. Play it while you can! John <>{

When I joined here, I had a celeb....one guitar... looking back at all the pictures of guitars I've owned since, still makes me laugh. No greater group of people on the web though even if they (we) are enablers.
