Yes. The DS768 is a deep bowl and the DS778 is mid-depth. |

| thank you paul and cw for the info; now i am curious as to any tonal/volume differences between the two; i am assuming the 1996 collectors longneck was a deep bowl, or an 'ovation' bowl, as they used to describe them... |

Location: Minden, Nebraska | Interesting question, and one I reckon CWK is far more authoritative to answer than I am. I have only played the mid-depth model.
It stands to reason that since the longneck is designed to be tuned down a full step lower, a deeper bowl guitar would give a more naturally deep response. However, I think it is less of an issue if the primary application is plugged in.
I don't know about the '96 Collectors' you reference. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | There never was a long neck C-Series. Not alot of difference between deep and mid, 3/4" and the mid depth is a little brighter, a little more "cut" which is what Glen liked about it way back when. The only long necks I knew were deep bowl but I guess they're doing other body depths now?
The longneck is supposed to be tuned to D (DGCFAD). It has two extra frets (about a 28" scale) so that tuning will give you the same string tension as a regular guitar at normal tuning. You can put on heavier strings and go into open tunings from there and have a big time.... |
