Bill may be the only person who can answer this question.

I had an early 70's Artist, and have a late 70's Legend, both with the VT bracing pattern. Compared to my 68 Deluxe Balladeer, which has an X bracing pattern, neither the Artist or the Legend sounded particularly good. Good treble, decent midrange, but no bass at all. I know from the Ovation book that Charlie was really into different bracing patterns, but I gotta ask if anybody really thought the VT patterns sounded better than the X pattern, and if so, why?

I was a senior in high school when I bought my Artist and I got it because it was similar to what Glen Campbell was playing. But if I knew then what I know now, I would have bought a Balladeer, which still had the X bracing pattern.
