I was going to bid on one yesterday but that scared me off...the seller said he looked everywhere but could not find any..

I also emailed Ovation and they said it should be right there on the back of the headstock...6 numbers for American and 7 numbers for Korean. I guess this is kind of a moot point for me now because I just bought the other Viper that was on ebay for $499 and it does have the # on the headstock. Still , I'm quite curious so if anyone has an explaination...

Can't understand the seller's reluctance...unless stolen goods. Web search shows a few registrys for stolen but doesn't seem to be anything comprehensive, most lists appear to be inactive. Gee, maybe OFC should have a listing of serial numbers of reported Ovations reported stolen? eBay appears to be the largest market for Ovations yet impossible to determine if stolen goods; even a seller with good feedback may be selling goods that were stolen.

He finds a lack of a number odd as well and wants me to let him know if I find anything out. In looking back through completed items, I saw another Viper with no # on the back where it should be . I fowarded the pic of that one since it was a close up to the contact at the Ovation website to try and get an answer. I'll post their answer when I get one. Trboy Thanks and thanks for the link for tuner buttons...I kinda like the ebony ones..looking foward to tryin her out... :D
