Paul,

It has the stacked knob F.E.T. preamp mounted at the waist, not near the neck like my Folklore or Glen Campbell.

I'm curious if you or anyone else has any info from catalogs or such about the # of years this model 1674 was made!

According to our reference section it states the 1674 was only made for two years: '83-'84 but the serial # on this one makes it a '85-'86!(my brown sunburst's serial # falls in '84)

I think the 1674 was the first model of the Country artist with a cutaway and "shallow" bowl? although they're probably considered "mid-depth" by todays "super shallows" (Please correct me if I'm wrong, anyone!!)

To the best of my knowledge (and catalogs), Ovation introduced their cutaways in 1983. From what I can tell, our Country Artists (I have one just like yours, except my was built in 1983) were only built for two years. There is no mention of the 1674 in any 1985 literature that I have.

I don't think that it wouldn't be unusual for a guitar, not in production, to bleed over into the next year if there are guitars in the pipeline, or parts that need to be used up. Production of a product can be continued even tho' it's not in a catalog.

Thank Paul,

I couldn't find 1674 referenced anywhere in my catalogs.

I'm still confused by the serial #313xxx which according to the "crack the code" it's a '85-86
http://www.ovationguitars.com/?fa=codesix

It's identical to my '84 in every respect except color!
. . . . . . . .

btw Paul, How come you haven't posted a pic of your Country Artist?(nylon strings need attention too!!!!)

I guess I should post a pic of my Country Artist. It's pretty stock except I put on gold tuners a while back.

Somebody also suggested to me that we should all post our earliest pic of ourselves and our Ovations. Mine goes back to 1973 when I was just out of high school.

I wouldn't get too hung up on exact dates of seriel numbers. They are good for reference, but you can't always pin it down to an exact year.
