Hieveryone I am new to this site (just found it tonight) and I love it so far! I just bought a AE 35 12 string on Ebay that has a cracked top just below the brige in the finish. I think that it is just in the finish. Is there any good way to tell for sure? I used a mirror and could not see any cracks on the inside of the guitar top. Also the brige is tight to the top. The crack comes up to about one inch below the brige and then turns right and left in a y type shape. If it is just in the finish what should I do? If it is a real crack then what should I do?
Thanks
Steve

Welcome aboard Steve. I'm not really qualified to suggest anything to fix it, but if it plays ok & sounds ok I'd give it a going over with some Dunlop 65 & play it. My 1612 has two small finish cracks in it but it works just fine. It gets the D-65 as needed & that's that. I can't see the little cracks from the drivers seat so I don't worry about 'em.

put one finger of each hand on either side of the crack press down in an alternating motion. If the wood does not move then you have a finish check not a crack.

You looked at the underside with a mirror and did not see any cracks so that seems like it is not through the top.

what should you do? play the guitar.
