Location: Lafayette, Louisiana | Can you guys take a look at this guitar on ebay. It is ebay # 2580002210, and it is listed as a 1975 Custom Ballader. It appears to be a Custom Balladeer, but it has a carved Custom Legend bridge. Anyone have an idea why this guitar has this style bridge? |

Location: SoCal | Paul, we need to change your name to EagleEye...CL bridge but non-CL inlay pattern on fret board. Ovation's picture for 1112 shows what appears to be a bridge that is carved but without the three pearl screw covers - two as in the eBay listing. At least the CL's I have seen have the three pearl. However picture for CL 1119 and CL 1619 don't show the pearl - probably used the same picture for both (probably a picture of #1119. #1119 would be of approximate age as the Custom Balladeer of eBay. Hard to tell from Ovation site. |

Location: Lafayette, Louisiana | Tony, eagle eye sounds cool to me. (lol) Custom Balladeers never had carved bridges. I have a 1975 year model 1612 Custom Balladeer. What I am wondering is is this a factory installed bridge or not? As far as the dots covering the bolts, these varied from guitar to guitar. My Custom Balladeer does not have them, but a friend of mine has a sunburst one for around the same time that does. You can even look at older Ovation catalogs, and you can see two guitars of the same model side by side. One will have the bolts in the bridge and one won't. This guitar has me curious. |

Location: SoCal | Paul, check out the photo of the 1112 on Ovation...not the greatest picture but looks like there is some relief????
Even some eBay Pacemakers with a carved truss cover - not same as CL but wood carved.
Would be great to have all of the Ovation catalogs scanned on a web site such as OFC. |

I e-mailed the seller and asked what the Model number was. He told me it was a 1112-4. Good job Tony in your identification! The Ovation retail list priced this O in 1975 was $360. Seller lists BIN for $350 bidding & bid start at $300 NR. Includes a OHSC. And no I am NOT the seller. Just forwarding along the information. But I really like the bridge! Craig |
