Location: Cherry Hill, NJ | I have some downloaded video clips of the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. I was so amazed a how adept these 20 yr olds were, while performing. They looked as natural as ever and skillful in their singing and guitar playing. One important note that set the Beatles apart is when Paul sung the 3rd (harmony) while John sang the melody. Paul, having been taught this by his musician father, made it a trait of their music. One has to only listen to "IF I Fell" to appreciated this. To think they wrote these songs, that are so great. I remember John Lennon saying in an interview, that he could write a hit single, and know it would be on the charts, as if he had a secret formula. Well I guess he did. Paul's style complemented Lennon, and his "Blackbird" remains one of the best acoustic guitar pieces of all time. |
