Location: Valley Stream, NY | I'm new to the board and was wondering if anyone can give me any info on the Ovation Applause AE 48 model. I have an older (mid 80's) Balladeer 1861, not the original owner, but I absolutely love this guitar. Anyway, the pre amp blew and I looked into getting a new pre amp from Ovation and then having it installed.I was able to pick up the AE 48 model on E-BAY relatively inexpensively, and I will use that guitar for any upcoming gigs.Eventually I'll get the pre amp for my older model, but what I want to know is if anyone can tell me about the Applause guitars, and how they are affiliated with Ovation. Any info is appreciated, particularly on how they play and sound.Thank's in advance. |

I think Applause has a website too for info on that line, or you might try harmony central for user opinions. Good luck. |

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | Nick, Applause is Kaman Music's (parent company of Ovation) inexpensive entry-level line. The bowls are made in the U.S., like for Ovation and Adamas. Applause generally does not play or sound as good as Ovations, although they are pretty close to the Korean-made Ovation Celebrities. But they are not in the same class as the U.S.-made Ovations and Adamas guitars. Getting your Balladeer fixed is a good option, it should sound and play much better than the AE48.

Location: Valley Stream, NY | Thank you Roger. I'll definately take your advise, my Balladeer is such a great guitar it would be a shame not to fix it. I'm hoping when my AE 48 arrives I'll be happy with it. |
