Location: Huntington Beach, CA | Found a '78 1617 Legend in excellent condition. To get it, I'd have to trade in my '98 S771, also in excellent condition. Looks wise, I'd rather have the Legend. Not sure how inferior the older electronics are. But, the Legend doesn't sound as good in the bass. As usual, it's on display with dead strings (yes, this time I actually played it before buying).
I know that the Legend is higher up the food chain than the S771, better woods/details, etc. and I love the look of an O withough the cutaway.
Can I get some opinions? Don't think this one will be around long due to superb condition. Thanks. |

Location: Scotland | Take your Balladeer along to the store & play them side by side, then have someone else play both of them at you while you have your back to them (don't cheat!) Decide which one sounds the best blindfold & take it from there. As has been said on numerous occasions, the electronics are a side issue & unless you play amplified most of the time, should not be a major influence on your decision |

I'd do what he says. It really does work! |
