Location: Pittsburgh, PA | I purchased a used ovation at a store taht only sells used gear. Its an early 1980's model or so the salesman said.(model 1612-1, serial #081291) I am having trouble dating it. I thinks its a much earlier model than that.It is pretty beat up too. There are dings all over the top and this 10 inch or so crack in the top which has been nicely reapired rather nicely. Im curios to find out what year its really from. The crack in no way effects the sound and I have always wanted an ovation but did not want to spend spend alot of money on one since they are not the traditional flat backed acoustic guitar. I was not sure if I would like it. but I just love this ones tone. |

Location: Scotland | Serial number puts it at 1976. An early 80's example would have a 2-piece neck, neck-rod adjustment at the soundhole & blue paper label. Yours should have a 5-piece neck, a rod-cover at the nut & an embossed foil label. |

I've got the same guitar (in natural finish).
(Just between you and I), I like the '76 vintage much, much better than the 80's (c'mon, it was DISCO then for crying out loud! . . . acCOUstic?!?! :-)
CBalladeer's a very sturdy workhorse of a guitar.
Congrats! You picked a winner. |
