Picture came through fine. Looks like you got it at a decent price. Preamp: An amplifier that is used before the main amplifier in a system. Usually this is an amplifier that takes microphone level/pickup level signals and brings them up to line levels.

Piezo pickups have a very high output impedance, much higher than the input impedance of amplifier and mixing console inputs. The input impedance must be higher than the output impedance of the source or the pickup becomes loaded-down by the mismatch, which results in a lack of bass & midrange response. At it's simplest a preamp in an electro-acoustic guitar is essentially a matching transformer which lowers the output impedance of the pickup so it can work with standard inputs without losing tone. The battery is required to power the preamp, though Ovations equipped with a Lo-Z XLR output can operate on phantom power.

You can plug your guitar directly into your compters sound card without damaging either, though you'll need the correct cable which is a mono 6.35mm jack to stereo 3.5mm.

Yes - if you have the adapter. If you have a cassette deck with a microphone input, you can plug into that too...

If your sound card has a line input as well as a mic input you'd be better off using that, if not use the mic input but watch your gain settings, you can overload a mic input easily with line-level outputs

Bob, Peter,
We're not supposed to post on this one, it's for those across the pond.
Oh, Sorry.

It seemed there were alot of Brits and we were cluttering up your chat. Never mind, a poor attempt at a joke.
