Hi Guys, Craig here from Manchester England, living in Spain. Saving up now for my first ever Ovation, and will be just about there in about 3 or 4 weeks!!

I dearly want a USA made Elite, either 1778 or 1868 (shallow?)

I have a weird question..I wonder if anyone's asked this!! (I have searched before asking)

Ok, I own a Takamine EN10C, and the depth of the body, as I look down on it from standing, is 12 centimetres....
My question is, is a mid depth bowl a lot slimmer? or should I be looking at the shallow ones? anyone got any actual measurments?
I find my Tak a bit wide when I'm standing, it annoys me at gigs.

Thanks if anyone has any comments :-)

Hi Martinez,

I don't know exact measurements but have had all the guitars in question, including the Tak.

The mid depth bowl will be more comfortable to play than the Tak, and the Super Shallow 1868 would be even more comfortable than the mid-bowl, however the mid sounds much nicer to my ear if you're playing unplugged.

If all you're doing is plugged in work, then the super shallow is a good choice.

I've updated your status, so feel free to posti in the main areas. You'll get more responses.

Thanks a lot Damon! Yeah it's mostly for plugged work, pub gigs....
Does the ssb actually sound like a "real full guitar" when it's plugged? it doesn't lose anything for being thinner? I like the idea of the comfort value!!

Cheers, will post in main areas
