I need a UK-II bridge or at least a way to repair it. The bridge is attached to the body by way of a threaded rod that goes through the body and is held on by a brass "nut". Well mine is is stuck 1/2 and I can't get it out. I tried to hold the rod with plyers and managed to totally destroy the threads.

HELP!!

If you can get a saw blade underneath, cut it.

Then pry the plastic part off the bridge plate (it will probable be easier if you cut the black hold-down tabs on the bottom of the plate).

Get a bolt of the same thread size and length and file/grind off the sides of the head so that the bolt forms a 'T'.

Insert bolt, replace black cover/retainer (I usually glue it down with super-glue applied around the tabs on the bottom). I'd remove all the other parts from the bridge first.

The hard part might be getting the bullet-nut off the cut off screw shaft.

In the last year I've fixed a couple of bridges this way. So far I've had no problem with them.

BE CAREFUL CUTTING THE BOLT. THE WIRING FOR THE PICKUPS GOES UNDER THE BRIDGE.

There's also a ground clip that goes on the bolt. You just need to squeeze the ends to get it off.

If you can't get at the bolt easily try taking out the four screws that hold in the bridge pickup then rotate the pickup assembly to one side. You should be able to get at it that way.

Take the saddles and intonation screws off the bridge first.
Maybe somebody already glued it down?

Yes, I gave Miles a call and he was able to help. I've got it back together now and was just about to leave to buy some new strings.

Thanks everyone for their help.
