Location: Philippines | Hi guys,
I'm interested in getting a Al di Meola Ovation signature model. I'm primarily an electric guitar player so I'm interested in a "fast" neck and a fat sound.
Please advice if the new 2004 is worth the 2000k!

Location: Phoenix AZ | I played the new AD model at NAMM and it was stunning. Yes it's worth 2k. But if you don't need the fancy abalone inlays and the presence button, the Legend LX for a lot less money would be my choice. The LX has features that the AD does not and to my ears it has better acoustic sound. Dave
Actually you could probably buy a new Legend LX and a used 1869 custom legend for 2k and then you would have the best of both worlds. |

why do you think the LX has a better acoustic sound? is it the body size or the top?
which ovation has the "fastest" or most "electric guitar player friendly" neck?
unless the abalone contributes to the sound I don't mind whether the guitars got it or not.

At NAMM I played an Al and an LX. Of those two The Al model had the sleeker and faster neck profile. Both sounded huge. |

Location: SoCal | The LX bracing pattern gives it a big bright sound. I think it's the best thing Ovation has done in years. The bowl is lighter as well and probably vibrates better. The neck is lighter with the newer reinforcement system (as opposed to the Kbar which worked great, but was very very heavy.
As to the profile of the neck, I'm not certain that there is any difference from one guitar to the next.
But when I special order my LX later this year, I'm going to have the deep bowl put on it to get the best acoustic sound (similar to my 68 Deluxe Balladeer). |

whats the name of the NAMM version that you tried?
is this correct: Model 1769-ADII ?
I plan on mail ordering it so I won't get a chance to try it. I have to get the 2004 model name right, lest I spend 2k and end up with the old version :)
also can someone refer a reputable ovation guitar dealer I can order from in the west coast? I plan on shipping it to my friends house in union city, CA. Then have it shipped to the Philippines. :) |

Location: Seattle | I'm pretty sure the Al model is a deep bowl vs the LX which I think is mid depth. This should make the Al sound a bit fuller. Again, they both sounded very very nice. The LX felt lighter but I seem to remember the Al sounding fuller. The Al neck was definitely smaller on the one I played. |
