If the tour and jam itself isn't enough to entice you, don't forget all these events that Cliff will be running: The Hawaiian Shirt Fashion Show The Al Pepiak Lookalike Contest Chambermaid "Bobbing for Green Cards" Barstool Dominoes The "Guess the Bra Size of the Other Hotel Guests as They're Checking In" Tournament and the "Paul Templeman Naked PiggyBack Rides" Is any information about travel, etc, forthcoming? What aiport do fly to, etc. Just seven weeks and counting....

Shuttle busses were provided to/from hotel/factory/jam venue. I would assume that lodging booking information will be forthcoming. SIGN UP NOW!!!! btw: I don't run/arrange any of those event . . . they just seem to happen on their own, thank you.

Cliff, knew you were payin' attention, but surely at least judge some of the events! :) On another subject, I stopped at Ridglea Music in town last Thursday, it's mainly a high school band, get lessons, sheet music type of store, but they have few guitars. They had three Ovations on consignment, one was a '82 collector's edition. I just called them to make sure, said the owner was asking $700.00, and that it had been there a long time, if I made an offer I could get it for cheaper. It had one noticable dink on the top. Just curious as to y'alls thoughts....

Most of the other collectors are just variations on the same theme. Sorry, but to me a new color and a new pre-amp does not make it a "collector". The '82 is special because it was the first year of the series. If you can steal it for $500 that would be a hell of a deal. Let me know, because I might be interested in it myself. Dave

It was totally radical and outside the box. Commercially it was a flop, the electronics sucked, etc. But it is soooo cool. I love mine and people who see it say "WTF is THAT". The Folklore Deluxe should have been the '03 collector: deep bowl, cedar top Josh White that sounds like a real woodie. The '04 "Collector" is a joke. The 30th Anniv. CL is a beautiful guitar, but it isn't a collector. The ORIGINAL '74 CL is the collector. Sorry if I sound too opinionated, but I once described the bulk of the collectors series as "same tupperware, different lid". Dave

Accurate though. It should have been stopped after 10 years and then reintroduced periodically, instesd of being totally beaten into the ground and then run for another 5 years just to make sure it's a dead concept. 97 a swan song, well not planned that way. It was a interesting guitar.

Beyond that, you can talk about bowl depths, but nothing terribly innovative. Some of the tops were interesting, but nothing innovative that made it into production.
