Location: Fort Worth, Texas | Well, I was talking to a co-worker of mine who is a musician. Plays guitar, bass, keyboards, voice. He mainly plays at his church and for other churches in the area. Sits right across the hall, another IT guy. Virtually every day we talk something about music, yesterday I was telling him about the 82 collectors I saw at the music store, and he mentioned his 12-string Ovation he never plays, he wasn't sure of the model and thought he might want to sell it (not a fan like us!). So he looked at it last night and it's a Pacemaker 1615 serial number 187052 (1979). He has modified the electronics by bypassing the preamp and wired it direct (not sure why?). I told him I'd be interested in buying it if he wants to sell it - he never plays it. We looked up the original price in the member ssection. Yesterday, I said I'd give him $200.00 if it is a USA model and in good condition and we could figure out a reasonable value. But after searching through the board, with the ohsc I think offering $300.00 is more on target. I want to add a 12-string to my small collection and to add another sound to our band, I was going to start saving for a new model. I could afford this one now.
Advice?
He may end up not wanting to sell it... |

It's v-e-ry difficult to be sitting here trying to work instead of playing it!
I was ready to run down to the bank this afternoon, but last night my wife was talking about this "budget" thing. Budget? Hmmmmmmmm
My friend says, take it home and play it, we're going to work out a plan - time to start on those income taxes.
In the meantime I have band rehearsal tonight, I'll give it a try out.
Without having spent lot of time checking it out this morning: natural finish (I think I like that better than the sunburst) it has a small finish crack (less than an 1" long) by the bridge, misssing the volume knob (I imagine Al or Miles could help out there!), looks to me like a good cleaning, new strings, fix the wiring back (wires are all hanging down inside), thourough polishing and it'll be a good 12-string to own... |

As soon as I receive the guitar, I will send my first payment. Oh, and as a good faith gesture, please allow me to send a full TEN YEARS of payment upfront!!! Just let me know when she's in the mail.

Location: Perth Amboy, NJ | My '83 Pacemaker sunburst , in pristine original condition, with original brown case in good condition was appraised at $300 late last year so $250 with cracks and wiring issues is probably fair. Note the Pacemaker is not known for it's bass response, but if you are into an amplified harpsichord tone you'll love it ... :D |

He's happy, I'm happy and most importantly, my wife is happy!!!
Off to the store this afternoon to get some new strings!
