I Purchased Elias's 1537. I won't be needing another guitar anytime soon.

In my experience, "need" has nothing to do with GAS!..... watch out.... there's another guitar lurking!

Sure, there's always a 12-string (my recent prescription for a GAS attack), mandolin, parlor, longneck, mandola, bass waiting for you.... :D

This board has given me a recent and excrutiating GAS attack!! The only thing that would cure it is a mint 1994 Collectors' axe.

I thing I feel that 12-string pang coming on, too.......

Jeff,

Welcome to the 1537 fan club. As a member I can tell you you've got one beautiful guitar. If your 1537 is like mine, it sounds the best when played near a reflective surface or in the hands of another player (because the guitar projects outward, not due to you're playing skills ) :D

Jeff

Now that you have your onliest guitar, tell all of us with a straight face that you no longer jump to all those tempting Ebay references on this board. Not even a small peek to see if you might have a slight, growing, burning, GASeous, uncontrollable, irresistable, mad desire to make a small insignificant bid.

GAS NEVER SLEEPS!!

You guys are pushing me down the 12th step!

Bradley-
I live in a log home with hardwood floors. The sound is everywhere...yet it still sounds better when someone esle plays it.

I gotta go...trying to learn a Richard Thompson tune.( I might be busy the rest of the day--or life)

What Richard Thompson are you learning?

I've seen him three times, after I saw him live, his status in my eyes was elevated to Guitar God!

Hey Paul,
I am giving "Beeswing" a shot...I hope I don't hurt myself. My expectations are reltiveely low and I think I would be happy to just get the changes down with a simple, yet passable, picking pattern. I also have the sheets for Vincent Black Lightning 1952... hahahaa, ah, right, like that'll happen any time soon.

I have seeen RT live countless times over the last 20 years and will be seeing him again in March down in Ashville (yes, I travel long distances to see him...which makes me a "dickhead" I think). He is, hands down the finest guitarist I have ever seen not to mention his singing/songwriting.

I've tried my hand at Fairport Convention's "Crazy Man Michael" and RT's "Al Bowly's in Heaven" and "How Will I Ever Be Simple Again"...

Like you Jeff trying to use a simple picking pattern with the chord changes.

I found this Al Bowly song here, Guitar Guy Web Site, I wasn't sure what Al Bowly ever did, but it's "Got A Date With An Angel". Thought it would be cool to do that then go right into "Al Bowly's in Heaven".

Interesting note, I have a good singer songwriter friend that played a Richard Thompson song at church (!), she learned it from our minister who is from Wales and is a big RT fan - she's not familiar with RT except for that song, and I was sitting around the campfire at Kerrville two years ago and this guy sits down with a resonator guitar and was doing some fantastic fingerpicking, I told him reminded me of RT, he proceeded to play "Vincent..." dead on - he, too, wasn't familiar with RT, learned it from somebody else who plays in a biker bar and the biker's alway's ask for it!!

Paul,
These people are obviously, biological mutants (or just really talented...both reasons to fear them... esp at a dark, isolated campground...run dude!!!!). To date I haven't heard even decent covers by well known capable, muscians including Greg Brown and Del McCrory and others. Maybe, I should start to frequent biker bars.

Al Bowley is a great tune.

And Bailey...
As for the temptation to peep on e-bay to alliviate a little GAS...I have put the parental lock on that section, taken up hypnotherapy, trained my dog to bite me when she hears me type the word "guitar"...ow..stop...down girl... oh, by the way have you seen this...
