One like this sold about 5 month ago, and was commented on by this board. I think the 14th fret fingerboard and nonslot head kind of ruin the orginial thought of a parlor. Steve

This is not to be confused with the "Ovation Plug It In" catalog (same cover)dated 4/97 that features the 1997 Collector. The catalog list the following specifications: Model # - 5741 Bracing - A Nut Width - 1 11/16" Scale - 25 1/4" Bridge - Ebony Fingerboard - Ebony Pickup - CP-100 Preamp - OP-24E The main difference, of course, is the fact that the 1997 Collector is a slothead while the Parlor is not, along with the different preamp and 14 fret neck. Another subtile difference due to the fact that the 1997 Collector has a natural finish, is a AA Sitka Spruce top on the 1997 as opposed to a non-graded top on the Parlor. This could affect the tone somewhat, but not near as much as the difference between the 12-fret neck adn the 14-fret neck. Incidentally, the guitar pictured in the catalog does not have a trussrod cover.

There was also an Elite-style (PPG8-X) 14-fret parlour-sized Ovation in the '99 catalog, though this was listed with the TS pre-amp. What's even more bizarre is there was a very short-lived Korean Celebrity version of this guitar! There's one or two catalog guitars with neck-rods but no covers, for example both the 1763-4 & EA63-4 in the '99 catalog should have rod covers, but don't

This is what he sent in reply to my inquiry as to model name, number, and preamp: "It's in the Celebrity line, Model # 5741-9 the pre amp is the OP-24E." Mystery solved.... but it still leaves it a rare model as the seller claims AND an anomaly in being a Celebrity made in the USA.

It's definately NOT the Celebrity version. Apart from the other details which indicate that this is a USA guitar I'm pretty sure the celeb version was a multi-hole
