In some intial pictures, I thought this color look pretty cool. Well, I just looked on Elderly's site, where they have some close-ups, and I must say that I was less impressed. One of the beautiful items on the LX's is the inlaid Ep's. Unfortunately, the burst color appears to drown the colors of the inlaid wood. Of course, this is all opinion and some people don't like the look of the inlaid wood. Anyone seen the New England burst up close?

I'd agree on the Elite models but the NEB on the Balladeer or Legend looked great in pics and posts. I chose the natural for my elite, but that's me.

The "Vintage" tone of the 2003C would have been my other choice.

NEB is the color of the 1998 Collectors'. I find it quite attractive, but it is a matter of personal taste, isn't it?

Paul, yes it's pure opinion. I looked up the anniversary issue and (it could be the lighting in the picture), but the burst appears darker on the sides than the currect NEB. Also, some of the eps are white? Looked Good in the picture! The inlaid wood in the anniversary picture looked more dramatic and did not wash out. That's why I was wondering how the new burst looks since pictures can be deceiving (What looks like a washout to me can look like a blending to someone else!).

I like the New England Burst color myself....but I'm not sure I'm going to buy one....leaning towards a black Legend at this point....finding I have a preference for the sound of the round sound hole(despite having to keep fishing the pick out).

Now if there was a New England Burst Legend....

I have an Autumn burst (pretty much same thing as NEB) Elite. I really prefer the natural wood finish over a gloss finish. I also like the simpler fretboard without the white binding. I almost purchased the LX New England Burst but I do not like the gloss finish. It is all a matter of personal taste. I own a number of Martins and all have satin finish (no gloss). The only guitar I own with a gloss finish is an Adamas woven top. I preferred the look of the SMT finish better but the sound of the CVT Adamas was better in my opinion.
