Although I worked for Jerry on and off about 8 years, I never saw any Thunderheads in his arsenal. But, he may have had one or two stashed at his house.

He did have a couple Ovations around, but no electrics that I were aware of. What is this special Thunderhead?

Jerry had one in the early 70's that Ovation made for him (I would guess thru his association with Glen Campbell). Samova has one if them in his collection. They were tweaked a little as to location of controls.

Sam, can you post a pic?

Hey Goob, were you the guitar player to whom Glen gave a beat up Bluebird 12 string?

Yes the Jerry Reed is actually one of my favorite Thunderheads. The pickups are a slightly different model than the DeArmonds that were used on the regular Thunderheads and maybe someone can shed some light on them because they SOUND significantly better also. The other difference is that the controls are simple. A single volume pot on the pickguard which I assume suited Jerry Reed's style and a single tone control and a pickup selector. No mix'n match balance fiasco or pairs of vol and tone pots. Nice and simple. As an added bonus this is one of those Thunderheads in which the wood, especially the back is just gorgeous.

It's beautiful. Any chance Ovation will ever reenter the "electric" market?

Nope. That's why there's Hamer.
