It arrives next Tuesday according to the UPS website, but I am worried about it sitting this weekend in a warehouse, truck, or train. Does anyone know where UPS packages are kept during the weekends? Do they just stay in the trucks? Man I can't wait to get the guitar and make sure it's ok. All this UPS talk lately has got me a little paranoid.

Like some other things in life it's good to be cautious, but don't let fear ruin the experience. Brand new guitars are shipped via air and ground frieght by the thousands daily, all tuned to pitch, all around the world, in the hottest and coldest and going from and to the hottest and coldest climates, not to mention semi-pressurized airplane cargo bays. The reality is, most make it through just fine, and most are not packed with near the care and padding that most of us use.

In the gorilla cage at the nearest zoo. Don't worry about a thing. /\/\/

When I started the thread on seasonal shipping I was thinking more about the old guitars. The ones where the top or bridge may be waiting for just one more event to fail. .. I did not mean to put yet another fear into our guitar loving heads. Dispite their reputation, I don't think the UPS guy say "Oooooo look a guitar...lets play catch!" Brad

In fact, I part in their lot (its closer to my office), and they park in part of our lot (closer to their office!) The 18 wheeler's trailers are emptied, and out in the back lot with the back roll ups locked in the up position. No kids, no homeless person will get locked inside unless they first break off the lock. All the "brown trucks" with stuff in em are parked inside whenever there is something in them, and at night. They run there 24 hours a day, six days a week. I'm guessing Saturday is prep for Monday, ie Fridays pickups, Monday deliveries. From what I can see (having been there) the depot building is not air conditioned (here in FL, but maybe others might be heated a bit up north). Its just too big, and too open. However (here in FL) they have huge fans on one side of the building that draw the air thru, making it at least livable inside. Our warehouse is the same way - gets warm in the summer, even when its like 99 out, but mot unbearably warm. They MAY have water injection there for the ventilation system - and I'm saying that because they have a huge drive thru washer for the brown trucks (washed at the end of every run!), so they may be reirculating water into the airstream to help with heat in the warehouse. I'd not worry about the weekend at all.

It had a weekend layover in Denver. Not only does Al give some extra stuffing to the box, but the dang thing came in almost on the warm side considering the outside temperature. There were zero problems! I think you might be better off worrying that the UPS guy finds the right house... :D Dale

They wear white lab coats and white gloves. They gingerly search every vehicle for only guitars. when they find one (such as yours ) they use 4 experts to carefully remove it from the truck and take it to a special holding facility. This facility is climate controlled and the guitars are placed, by the 4 guys in lab coats and white goves on velvet pillows. they then pipe in segovia music to make the instruments feel at home. This room is in a containment of 4 ft concrete reinforced steeel walls with barbed wired, razor wire guard towers and a privately armed UPS SWAT team that has M 16's and ak 47's with gernade launchers and patriot missles all guarding you guitar. NO one and I do mean NO ONE will ever even come close to any of these babies perched on their velvet pillows. AT the end of the weekend they are placed by the 4 men in lab coats and white gloves into an armoured car where they are then place back into the UPS truck, where your average brown suited driver will stop in front of your house and kick the box off the back of the truck to the curb.

Now I'm gonna have go out and get the windex and clean this meatloaf sandwich off the monitor - cuz thats where part of it landed when it shot out my left nostril.

Btw, I tightened the truss rod a quarter turn & put some light Elixirs on the 2002 & it's even sweeter than it was when I got it. No-buzz no-where, it's great. Sounds fabulous too. I noticed there were no shims under the saddle, I wonder if that makes it louder? I sure am glad you accidently wound up with two & sold one to Tony :) /\/\/

The wood grain looks awesome. If you take the back plate off and look inside, you can see that it is even beautiful inside. I am glad you are enjoying the guitar.

I just don't feel comfortable with the instrument sitting anywhere in tranit for too long. The only finish check I ever got was on my 87 collectors from an airplane overhead compartment. I am sure UPS is a reliable carrier. I just won't take my chances.
