I saw that guitar earlier. Very nice indeed. Btw, at the risk of further dating myself, I believe the correct term is "Holey Mackerel Kingfish!"

Nice to see such a fine guitar fetch a decent value for a change. Maybe people are starting to wise up to deep bowl old style stuff. Dave

$1,300 and I thought his buy now was too high. I just bought a 1658 12/23 for $695 buy it now. And, except for the UPS damage, mine is in better condition. Also, as a collectible, his upgrade of electronics should have hurt the sale. Once I have the top refinished, it will be in basically new condition.

Small sample but appears to me that O's have been going for higher prices the last several months.

Dave, I hope you're right. That was a very fair price for that guitar.

Also reflects sellers having a higher value of the guitar they are selling. Either setting a high minimum bid or a high reserve. No sale, list it again later.

Earlier this year, I looked at a good deal as 1/4 or 1/3 of original sales price for an excellent O...this 1658 sold close to 100% of the original sales price.

This was a shock. I was in the bidding and then dropped out when I thought it was getting out of the market value. The seller e-mailed me the reserve of $975.00. I responded to him advising good luck as I thought it would not even pass the reserve.

It is good to see it going for that amount as I am tired of seeing Martin 12 strings continuously pull over $1,000.00 and the Ovations sit there pulling a few hundred.

Perhaps there is an Ovation movement.

Cliff..

isn't it amazing the flotsom that clutters our minds.... especially when whole decades seem to be missing.... someone told me that we went through something called "Disco" during the '70s... I guess my mind was otherwise occupied at the time.... ahem

Tim, besides "it's more than a river in Egypt", sometimes a bad memory is a blessing. The only polyester I have is in my tennis racquet!!

Long live The Mystic Knights Of The Sea!

Hey, wait a minute. While I'm regressing to an earlier lifetime, wasn't it actually, "Holy Mack'el, dere ANDY"?!

I think seesquare is right. I've got the entire series on DVD. Those guys are still funny as hell. Lightnin' kills me, so does Calhoun the disbarred lawyer. My only excuse is I didn't know how to spell *Mack'el*! :)

I bow to the masters! And I feel sooooooo much better! Imagine TWO people who have more flotsom in the brain than me! :D

Uh-huh, Tim, and I, truthfully, resemble that remark. I want to clarify, however, I know this trivia so well because my father and uncles used to do Amos & Andy routines, verbatim, at family gatherings, after copious application of distilled spirits. Unfortunately, they weren't a very musical bunch, so that portion of my artistic training was, woefully, neglected. Picking up musical insrument proficiency in middle age is a trifle daunting, to be sure. As you see, I suffer from a chronic, and refractory, case of Dictionary Breath.
