This might be old hat to you folks, but its new to me.

The new Adamas soudns great - but its action is fairly high at 4/32 on the bass side (didn't measure the treble side). There was some considerable relief in the neck - but I like lighter strings, and with a string up to EXP15's the relief is juat about where it ought to be. That got got the action down a bit - 3.5/32's.

I want to let the guitar settle into its new climate a bit... but can forsee in a week or so wanting to bring the strings down a little more.

If I remove the strings will the saddle just about fall out... making the shim fall out... or what?
My fear is I'll get a pile of parts in my hand and have no idea how to replace em!

Just dont want any suprizes thats all. Always better to ask first.

Take the strings off.
Reach in through the soundhole (or access hatch).
Feel around for the wire harness coming through the bottom side of the top at one end of the pickup.
GENTLY push the harness up through the top while simultaneously GENTLY lifting the other end of the pick up.
The two black "pins" on either side of the white pickup may come out with the pick up assembly.
The shim(s) should be right underneath the pickup.
Reverse the procedure.
It's relatively easy.

How much of a pain in the arse is it to remove shim?

It is a huge one if you don't loosen the strings. Go by brother Cliff's method, it's not too bad.

Just get in there and get 'er done! The pickup wiring is sturdier than you think.

Yeah, it felt REAL good. I took out both shims, a thinner and thicker one. And maybe I jumped the gun, but... I found the key for the KB in the case, and gave it the slighest tweak. Perfecto... they ain't kidding when they say a little goes a long way on the KB adjustment.

As they say... "action like a Strat". Thats about right. Thought I'd miss those non-existant posistion markers, but I'm not missing them at all, the side ones are good enough reference when I need it - plus the scale is so similar to the Teles I use that... it feels pretty much like home.
