Who's Michael Shenker and why would his guitar be worth $5k?

I wondered about this guitar on ebay.

He always has his guitars painted in his traditional black/white motif (like on his flying v), but this one on ebay is just black, which seems strange. Even if you were a fan of his, I can't imagine paying that kind of money for the guitar.

I just received his "thank you 3" acoustic cd this past weekend as a gift. The booklet shows him playing his custom legend with that b&w design.

The cd is interesting. Just 2 tracks, usually, rhythm & lead guitar. Midevil/majestic/Euro sounding music. What I'd expect from him.

My girl likes the cd a lot.

Let me clarify...most of the 12 songs have 2 tracks only...two guitars. The sound is VERY Ovation.

Read an interesting article in the new Guitar World last night, which coincides why his guitars have been on ebay recently.

Apparently, his manager and wife have totally ripped him off. He was away recording an album, and his wife left with his 4 year old son, and his manager (who unknown to him has been ripping him off for years and got him in trouble for past due taxes owed) emptied his house of all his gear-which consisted of a very expensive recording studio.

He recently found himself with literally nothing...2 pairs of jeans and some guitar equipment he was using while away recording. His house was reposessed, and he was forced to sell his gear on ebay..including his 2 black/white trademark Gibson flying V's. Bad situation to be in.

Anyway, I'm not sure if it's him currently selling that Custom Legend on Ebay, or someone who acquired it through shadey means-but it seems that it would likely have been authentically his at one time.

I used to love to listen to Mikey's diddy Ravi. The guy needed a serious fret job, though. Bzzzzzzz!

Michael Schenker was one of my fav. rockguitarists for a long time. He has been playing with Scorpions and UFO for a long time and formed his MSG after that. (Great songs lik Captain Nemo!)

Sad story to read this. I know he left Scorpions because of his health.

This is his website:

Glad I didn't go through what he's been through.

Sad story... I really like Michael's music. But a even more depressing story is Jason Becker... Check out his site...
