| Anyone have any details on this model...I can't find anything on the website and only have limited info so far (ES = Englemann Spruce top) - the model I'm looking at has a deep bowl, Optima electronics, no fretboard inlays, 'ovation' inlaid on headstock, cutaway, gold-keys. Any history or comments would be great. Thanks. |

Location: SoCal | This is another of those Ovations that were built for the overseas market (I think in the mid to late 90's), but some of them ended up selling domestically. They were also built in the Elite configuraton. They pop up occassionally on ebay. I think they are terrific guitars. Seems to me that when I saw one in the Guitar Center in Hollywood, they were asking about $1200. That must have been about 5-6 years ago. |

Location: Minden, Nebraska | I have had a matched pair of the Elite and Legend with the ES top. I think they may have had ebony fretboards. The top was really the only deluxe appointment to the guitar, tho the Englemann is a very, very pretty spruce. Considering that Taylor was asking $3500 for a model with Englemann Spruce top at the time, the Ovation was -- as always -- a comparative steal. |
