Jimlew, I agree, my policy does not work for the 30th Anniversary CL or any of the Ovation limited releases. It means that I will likely never buy a limited release model because I'll probably never have access to one to play before I buy.

Makes me wonder how much Ovation really gains from the limited releases. It doesn't gain any brand loyalty from me because I can't find one to buy. If it's really good and it sells, why not make it generally available and sell MORE???? And if they have quality problems on an expensive limited release, that REALLY ticks people off!!!!

Of course, the problem in Michigan is that there aren't any good Ovation dealers.....the ones I've mentioned would rather sell Mar-lors.

Your right Roger, I don't know what the deal is with O dealers but they all seem to have 3 or 4 to choose from and that's it. In the meantime they have almost every Mar-Lor ever made or ever thought about being made!

Paul, where did you buy your 30th anniversary CL from?

did you order it on line?

I too was interested in getting one in ebay, for around $1750. Not anymore :(

I still think you guys are making too much out of a few problems. Granted, on a limited run, the guitars shouldn't have left the factory with any problems. But in a human world, it happens (shit, that is). I'll believe there's a problem only if Ovation doesn't make good on the fixes.

I'd buy mail order in a heartbeat. But I'd make certain of what I want before ordering.

Jim and Tony, can you see the seam where the top binding meets on your 30th Custom Legend. Look right on top of where the strap button is the bottom of the guitar. My older Custom Legend is not done that way. I wish they would have not put the seam where you can see it.

Paul, I had to take my glasses off and put the guitar in an unnatural position to see that there is the finest of seam. I have 4 Custom Legend 12's, 3 Custom Legend 6's - other than the UPS damage being fixed, I can find no fault. Each CL is a little different depending on year (heck one isn't a deep bowl and is a cutaway - that's the radical of the group.) Yet, I haven't had a concern or complaint.

The 30th Anniv CL that I have is the best of the bunch. I would sell the Martin before the 30th Anniv. Never said that about my other guitars. To the guys and gals at the factory, thank you!

I will throw my $0.0198 in here.

My 30th CL arrived today. I was apprehensive, as it cost me the most I have ever paid for a single guitar (tho my 59 Les Paul and 61 Strat are worth more, lol). But I think I got a superb instrument.

It sounds better out of the box than any new Ovation I have ever played by far. And the new preamp is tres cool, and obviously designed for ease of use on stage. I concur with opinions on it I have seen in other threads.

I find no flaws on it anywhere.

My one complaint echoes one already voiced in this thread: if there are only 300 of these made and this guitar seems to be the equivalent of a 2004 Collectors' Edition, why is there a regular serial number? One would think a guitar of this price that is advertised on the Ovation website as very limited in production would at least have a special sn#, in my always modest opinion.

Super nice guitar, tho, and way better than I deserve!

Paul, congrats...didn't know you were getting one (I now have two...) I agree, they should have been numbered - only negative or neutral comment I can make. Not only did they capture the past 30 years, they improved.
