Hey everyone. I stumbled onto this site a few days ago, and have been reading all of your great posts.
While reading other sites, it seems that Ovation guitars are really really loved or really really hated. I just recently bought one from Musicians Friend, and couldn't be happier.
I have wanted an Ovation Elite since 1989 when I saw them in Guitar For The Practicing Musician magazine. When I saw the price at MF, I couldn't resist. I bought the 2778XL (LX)? model. WOW!!! This thing almost plays itself. I wanted the natural color, but it was sold out, so I got the black one. Beautiful.
This is the first time I've ever bought a guitar through mail order. In fact, I'v been getting MF catalogs since 1988 and this is the first time I have ordered from them. My overall experience was great. No damage during shipping.
I hope to be active on this forum, but I'll probably mostly lurk around.
Enjoy your guitars, and I'll see yall on the board.

Welcome and don`t have any contact with Trader Jim. If you do you`ll look up one day and have a wall full of guitars.

Welcome and congrats on the new aquisition.

OFC is one of the more "friendly" boards around.

Guns, Girls, and Guitars...What more do you need?
Yup, sounds like a great weekend plan!

A 2778LX is a pretty darned nice place to start your O collection. Musicians Friend gets a regular portion of my paycheck, we've never had a problem with their service. AlPep gets a good portion of what's left, in fact he's getting more today (no, not the new OFC guitar).

Welcome cajunboy! Great start on what will inevitably be a larger O collection - especially if you lurk around here. I was and still am really impressed by Ovation's LX line. Now you need a LX 12-string. (We'll not only help push you over the edge, but also eagerly show you where it is.)

dweez is already pointing the way...

Let me help: if I didn't already have one I'd be all over this one like flies on stink.

Cajun, the 1537 is thought to be just about the best wood-top Ovation ever made. Do a search in the archives of this site for reasons why that's so, history history of that guitar and owner testimonials.
