While reading other sites, it seems that Ovation guitars are really really loved or really really hated. I just recently bought one from Musicians Friend, and couldn't be happier. I have wanted an Ovation Elite since 1989 when I saw them in Guitar For The Practicing Musician magazine. When I saw the price at MF, I couldn't resist. I bought the 2778XL (LX)? model. WOW!!! This thing almost plays itself. I wanted the natural color, but it was sold out, so I got the black one. Beautiful. This is the first time I've ever bought a guitar through mail order. In fact, I'v been getting MF catalogs since 1988 and this is the first time I have ordered from them. My overall experience was great. No damage during shipping. I hope to be active on this forum, but I'll probably mostly lurk around. Enjoy your guitars, and I'll see yall on the board. cajunboy2k

A 2778LX is a pretty darned nice place to start your O collection. Musicians Friend gets a regular portion of my paycheck, we've never had a problem with their service. AlPep gets a good portion of what's left, in fact he's getting more today (no, not the new OFC guitar).

I was and still am really impressed by Ovation's LX line. Now you need a LX 12-string. (We'll not only help push you over the edge, but also eagerly show you where it is.)

Cajun, the 1537 is thought to be just about the best wood-top Ovation ever made. Do a search in the archives of this site for reasons why that's so, history history of that guitar and owner testimonials.
