I bought this guitar new and have enjoyed playing it for countless hours. Last night I wanted to record a track. Sad to say that the 6th string is almost silent. Very upset by this. I loved the sound of this guitar. How can I trouble shoot the problem? Can I purchase replacement parts? Who should I get to look at it? I live in silicon valley (CA).
Thanks in advance for any help,

bruce
:rolleyes:

Bruce;
As STUPID as this may sound, try these two things before you panic:

Replace the battery with a brand new Duracell.

Replace the string in question.

If both of these don't work, reach inside and ensure that the lead from the pick-up is properly plugged into the pre-amp.

Does the e.q. seem to be working properly (especially the "low-end" slider)?

if it is only one string sounds like the pickup is bad.

Thanks for your thoughts, the first thing I did was buy a new coppertop battery. I will try replacing the string. And then check the connections on the pickup and preamp.
The tone control works properly, this guitar has the two wooden knobs, volume and tone (w/stereo and mono jacks).
I have never taken apart the bridge on this guitar, could the pickup have shifted enough to not work on the 6th string.

What Al said, sounds like a duff crystal, you may need a new pickup.

I'm with Al and Paul T. In my experience, fwiw, when one string goes silent the pickup has a bad crystal and the whole assembly requires replacement.

But that's not a big deal, just have the service dept send you a new pickup.
