Surprised that PopCritic hasn't posted these . . .

Ovation should feature her as a user on their website ASAP! She's HOT!

I wonder if she could make it to the OFC tour to meet some of her extended family - that would be NEAT!!

Speak for yourself Hizzoner, our youngest member attending that I know of is I believe 10 years old. We have a pretty wide range of ages... Maybe I should setup an anonymous poll to see what the average age of folkso n the board is, just for fun. I would guess a large part of the lurker community is less than 40 years young just based on computer user statistics and trends.

All I can say is "Ain't life grand!!"

Cliff, thanks for breaking the major label news. I repeat every good thing I've ever said about this fantastic board and its members.

Here's what happened. SONY bought her recording contract from Velour, her first label. She then signed a deal with Epic Records for her next cd. She'll record it in SONY/Epic studios in April for release in the summer. Part of the deal is that she retains her genius manager Jeff Krasno (owner of Velour).

Keb Mo is an Epic artist so that's how the present tour came about. Anybody who sees her on this tour--note the unusual Adamas she's playing and give us a little feedback.

Now, I'll try to respond to those who've posted.

Hizzoner, Mayor Your Honor, you have a reasonable chance to see her live:

03.05.04 San Angelo, TX
City Auditorium

I MapQuested you. In Texas not so far. Raised as she was in a house full of lawyers, she is an "Honorary Colonel" in my army of 'Officers of the Court' of the "Auxiliary Sisters of the Lone Star State".

In other words, You, Honorary General Hizzoner, will report for 'Ovation Adamas Duty' in San Angelo on 3/5.

TR, she comes tantalizing close to the 2004 OFC Factory Tour:

03.25.04 Ridgefield, CT
Ridgefield Playhouse

But they immediately go south:

03.26.04 Glenside, PA
Keswick Theater

This collides head-on with the Factory tour, unfortunately.

None of you have the slightest reason to know this, but for most of my adult life, my personal musical hero has been Bill Evans, the pianist. One of his greatest albums was recorded in the 60's at Town Hall Concert venue in NYC. Kaki grew up with his music in the house. Kaki will appear there:

03.27.04 New York, NY
Town Hall

My heart is bursting with pride.

Kaki's dad,

Dave King

EPIC Records! . . where the hell did I get "Elecktra"??? Only "48" and the Alzheimer's is kickin' in already!

CONGRATS, Pop!!!

I just heard an ad on a local station promoting the Town Hall show.

Pop, there's a framed copy of Bill Evans' album hanging in one of the upstairs lobbies of Town Hall. If there's anyone in the area that can make it back from the OFC Tour in time to catch the show there, I'd highly recommend it cause it's a great venue! This is the hall that the "concert" took place in on "A Mighty Wind".

Very kool, pop! Looking forward to getting ahold of some of her records.

There are places here in San Antonio that she could play, ya know. She needs to get booked at Gruene Hall!!
